Review

A second run of this slice-and-dice history series opens with a snoop around the Imperial War Museum, which houses half-a-million objects in five locations. We visit the secret bunker of reluctant subterranean Winston Churchill, and hear a Tornado pilot talk euphemistically of “delivering the weapons” during the Iraq War.

It’s bitty, with bizarre animated reconstructions, but amid the Guns & Ammo-style featurettes are stories of ingenuity and bravery — including that of spy Odette Sansom, who withstood Nazi torture by looking at trees through an open window, and who remained defiant throughout her imprisonment.

Summary

A behind-the-scenes look at the Imperial War Museum in London, home to a collection of 10 million items, ranging from guns to aeroplanes.
