Junior Doctors: Your Life in Their Hands

Junior Doctors: Your Life in Their Hands

Series 2 - Episode 6

It’s the last few days of the doctors’ placements, so now we see the results of their gradual learning programme. It’s a time of drama. Andy finally faces the ordeal of night shifts, but correctly diagnoses an internal bleed. Meanwhile, Lucy has her ability to empathise tested by a 97-year-old woman with suicidal thoughts. But it’s Ben who faces the largest leap, having to present research to a conference of leading paediatricians.

But yet again, poor Milla’s ward scenes are left on the cutting-room floor and we’re left with the delightful sight of her “Sabrage” party, where she teaches her housemates how to open a bottle of champagne with a sword. Handy skill for a doctor, that.

The eight medical professionals approach the end of their placements at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. Ben challenges himself to present research to an audience of leading paediatric surgeons, and Lucy seeks a solution to an emotional case. Meanwhile, Aki proves he has found his feet in the acute assessment unit when he is called on to make a difficult diagnosis.
