Episode 4408

If she’d had a choice, Heather Trott would probably have wanted George Michael to sing at her funeral (Wake Me Up before You Go-Go, perhaps?) but sadly neither he nor her fiancé Andrew is present. The hatchet-faced Shirley (a splendid vision in black and orange) is policing the ceremony to ensure that Andrew, Dot and Cora don’t attend.

Of course a lot of people do turn up for what is an emotional send-off featuring a shocking pink coffin that is – if you’ll pardon the pun – to die for. But it’s at the wake that events take a dramatic turn for someone bearing the surname of Mitchell.

Emotions run high on the day of Heather's funeral, and Ben struggles to contain his guilt as he gives a reading - but everyone is shocked when the police make an arrest at the wake. Dot is determined to give her own memorial, despite being banned from the service, and a grief-stricken Shirley tries to find some sense of peace by looking through the contents of Heather's old work locker - only to make a discovery that leaves her with an entirely new perspective on her friend's death. Meanwhile, Michael signs Janine's agreement.
