Amid the plethora of programmes about the sinking of the Titanic on 14 April 1912 comes one that takes a different line. This explores efforts to recover some of the bodies. There are heroes and villains: among the former were the crew of the ship Mackay-Bennett from Halifax, and a Nova Scotia registrar who pioneered a forensic approach to dealing with mass deaths. But the biggest bad guy seems to have been the White Star Line itself, which delayed releasing news about casualties and refused to repatriate victims.

Summary

A mix of documentary and drama draws together stories that unfolded in the wake of the disaster, including that of a bandsman who left behind a pregnant fiancee in Scotland.
