Review

Such is Mad Men supremo Matthew Weiner’s obsession with secrecy, no preview discs are made available and only the smallest dribbles of enigmatic “information”. So, by episode three of this slick advertising agency drama (lthe series started with a two-hour premiere, a double bill by any other name), for all we know Don Draper (Jon Hamm) has taken to wearing love beads and a kaftan, and staging anti-capitalist sit-ins on Madison Avenue.

At this stage – and at the time of writing, the latest series had yet to debut in the US – anything is possible. Of course, this is entirely unlikely, from what little we do know and have been vouchsafed by Weiner, Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce is still flourishing and trying to build on its business, while Don Draper and Harry (Rich Sommer) indulge a client…

Summary

Peggy is given the job of recruiting a new copywriter when Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce lands a potentially valuable client - but discovers her preferred choice may prove difficult to work with. Don is forced to go on a journey with Harry after a customer makes an unusual request, while a disconsolate Betty takes stock of her life after a visit to the doctor.
