Review

Bringing together the five surviving (and one deceased) members of the legendary comedy team.

Titled the 'Much Funnier Second Episode', with their childhoods covered in the first edition, this covers how the Pythons came together to form the circus. It's interesting to look back to the pre-Python days of television, when Variety still ruled the airwaves. In this light, their surreal sketches become parodies of the stuffy status quo.

Also evident is how, like their contemporaries The Beatles, the divisions that would eventually split the group were there from the beginning. By that point they had transformed comedy into something completely different.

Summary

John Cleese, Eric Idle, Michael Palin, Terry Jones and Terry Gilliam reflect on Monty Python's Flying Circus, revealing how their failures turned to success and the ways in which the BBC series influenced comedians.
