At the end of last season, pin-up crime-buster Steve McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) was arrested for the murder of the governor, and his Five-O team disbanded. But with no squad, there’s no show – hence the exciting break-out in this episode's opening minutes, in which Steve elbows half a dozen people in the face and legs it with an unfortunate and messy stab wound in his guts.

Elsewhere, the series continues to be a refuge for performers from past US hits. Heroes actor Masi Oka gets a credit in the opening titles now that coroner Max Bergman has a more substantial supporting role and Lost star Terry O’Quinn (the zen-like John Locke) gets a reunion with his fellow islander Daniel Dae Kim.

The team tries to exonerate McGarrett, who is in prison awaiting trial for the murder of the Governor, and the discovery of a hidden camera could prove to be vital in their quest. Meanwhile, Kono is suspended from HPD pending further investigation into allegations of evidence forfeiture. Starring Alex O'Loughlin.
