Melvyn Bragg visits Great Yarmouth, once home to the world's largest herring fleet, to look back to the 1920s and the heyday of British fishing. In the Norfolk town he meets Fred Normandale, whose family has been in the fishing industry since the 18th century, and maritime writer Mike Smylie, who talks about the popularity of herrings before fish fingers became a teatime favourite.
