Review

Despite the title, don’t expect much footage of actual tigers in this series. First shown in 2010, it’s one of the excellent Lost Land… strand, where a team of experts and camerafolk set up shop in remote jungle and carry out a wildlife survey. In this case, we’re in Bhutan and the loudest whoop of delight comes when entomologist George McGavin finds a dung beetle.

Other pleasures include a kingfisher, a clouded leopard and something called a moon moth, which looks like a miniature kite tie-dyed by a hippy. Meanwhile, Steve Backshall is on the hunt for tiger “scat” with a sniffer dog called Bruiser. Except, being Steve Backshall, he gets sidetracked by a snake.

Summary

Alan Rabinowitz, Gordon Buchanan, George McGavin, Steve Backshall and Justine Evans travel to the far-flung corners of the Himalayas in search of tigers, snow leopards and clouded leopards, on an expedition aimed at helping the survival of these creatures. The team gets to work by tracking elusive tigers and setting up remote-controlled cameras to film the animals in action.
