A profile of the award-winning jazz musician, who died last month, exploring his experimental approach to the genre that marked him as an adventurous and technically accomplished figure. With rare archive footage and performances filmed specially for the documentary, the programme charts the career of one of the 20th century's most famous musical names. With contributions by the man himself, along with wife Iola and friends and admirers including Bill Cosby, Jamie Cullum, Yo-Yo Ma, George Lucas and Clint Eastwood.
