Come Rain Come Shine

Come Rain Come Shine

David Jason and Alison Steadman give touching portrayals of a decent, working-class couple in this slightly overcooked fable, written by Jeff Pope, about our “live now, pay later” credit-card culture, first shown at Christmas two years ago.

Jason’s performance as former docker and family man Don is beautifully nuanced, and will doubtless strike a chord with older viewers brought up with traditional views on debt. And while the drama has clichéd moments, its heart is definitely in the right place.

David Jason stars in this drama about an ex-docker whose life revolves around his family. A simple man with strong values, Don Mitchell is immensely proud of his property developer son David, who has carved out a life others can only dream of, mixing in social circles a million miles away from his working-class roots. Don's wife Dora often questions her son's affluent lifestyle, but his father will not hear a bad word said against him. However, it seems all is not well in paradise, as the family soon discovers. Alison Steadman, Shaun Evans and Kellie Bright co-star.
