The male and female halves of the Cooper clan spend quality time apart in this satisfying instalment. So while mother Mary, daughter Missy and grandma Meemaw treat themselves to hairdos and general pampering, Sheldon gets to choose a gig for the guys: watching a Space Shuttle launch from Cape Canaveral. On their car journey father George (Lance Barber) generously allows Sheldon to explain science to him (having thought Schrödinger was the kid who played the piano in Charlie Brown) – and one revelation may or may not prove significant.
Back home, Mary decides to take issue with Meemaw’s poor parenting. It’s all very cutely written and played, like a warped Waltons.
