Episode 3: Burgundy

Summary

The historical drama series adapted from Philippa Gregory's novel about Elizabeth of York. Lizzie gives birth to Prince Arthur, and finds common ground with Henry.

Review

After Game of Thrones, this soapy swords and sackings history saga certainly feels a little low key. But even without any sex and dragons, the fabulous settings, gowns and some of the best tresses this side of late-medieval Burgundy may be diversion enough.

Tonight, Jodie Comer’s Lizzie is about to give birth – hopefully to the son that will help unite the warring Yorkists and Lancastrians; meanwhile the headdress of scheming matriarch Margaret (played, funnily enough, by Thrones alumna Michelle Fairley) continues to be quite deliciously, Maleficently mad.
