Ben Fogle: New Lives in the Wild

Missouri

Series 6 - Episode 7 Missouri

Review

Ben arrives in Springfield, USA, but he's not in Missouri to meet Homer Simpson. Quite the opposite, in fact. Former musician Bo has survival skills that Bear Grylls would sell a kidney for. Having studied under a native American chief, Bo now lives in a cabin in the woods and teaches Stone Age hunting and foraging skills for a living.

After treating Ben to his signature squirrel pad thai, Bo takes him into the woods. "These are all my friends. I know their names," he says of the local flora.

A calming episode is rounded off, bluegrass-style, when Bo's band arrives. They're ace. Someone alert Jools Holland!

Summary

The presenter travels to the Ozark Plateau in Missouri to live with wilderness expert Bo, who gave up life on the road with his band to teach Stone Age skills to modern day man. Ben discovers how his host combines a primitive life with the need to survive in the present.
