First Dates

Series 9 - Episode 7

Review

The waiting staff at the so-called ‘First Dates Restaurant’ (it’s actually the Paternoster Chop House overlooking St Paul’s Cathedral) are a pleasant, encouraging bunch, who excel in putting their patrons at ease, and lark about endearingly in the kitchen. Sometimes, though, they’re a bit too pleasant, and attract more attention than the actual dates, as is the case tonight when art-loving lawyer Josh fails to impress cynical student Sophia with his gallery chat, but waitress Cici seems more than up for a look at his portraits. And anything else he might fancy showing her.

Others through the door are Leslie and Babs, who share a love of Michelle Obama, and Amanda and Brad, who may have met before. Plus 52-year-old Sue returns for a ‘second bite of the cherry’ and this time, she won’t let her nerves get the better of her.

Summary

Lawyer and painter Josh sits down for a meal with student and part-time waitress Sophia, while Old Etonian Leslie and blogger Babs bond over a shared respect of Michelle Obama. Property developer Amanda is ready to begin dating again after her husband passed away, but she and sales executive Brad both have the distinct feeling they may have met before, while Sue returns to the restaurant after nerves got the better of her during her first visit.
