Review

Although this is made by the people who brought you The Real Marigold Hotel, expect something more like a Big Brother for grown-ups. Ten total strangers arrive at a farm in the Tuscan hills. All are keen for their lives to take new directions. It’s a social experiment – if they can get along together, whoever is interested will have the chance to buy the entire enterprise – vineyard, olive groves and B&B.

But the cameras hungrily roam those lovely hills just waiting for the little group to fall out with one another. Of course they oblige, though not, as yet, in any loud or marked way. The passive aggression is almost glorious.

Summary

Documentary following 10 strangers at turning points in their lives who are brought together to take over an Italian farm in the foothills of Mount Amiata, adjusting to the challenges of communal living in another country. In the first episode, they face the difficult tasks of bringing in a harvest of Merlot grapes and keeping the local wild boar at bay.
