A majestic, pre-credits feint gives way to a two-pronged episode. Penny and Leonard have a falling out over the latter’s husbandly inadequacies – so Sheldon tries to cheer up his old roomie with a game: “What would you be the happiest losing at?” Meanwhile, Howard and Raj apply their scientific nous to the problem of continually waking up the new baby, Halley (whose cry sounds uncannily like Howard’s late mother).
There are big, comfortable laughs, including a jarringly unsuitable lullaby, but it’s another astonishingly short episode. It seems churlish to complain when the gag content is so high but at just over 17 minutes, the leads are getting paid a life-changing $58,824 a minute.
Penny thinks that Leonard is taking her for granted and has stopped making an effort in their relationship, so she decides to go away for a spa weekend with Amy.
