Review

Once this show gets going (the gears tend to grind a bit at the start of Insert Name Here, for some reason), it has all you want in a panel game. There’s comic jousting between host Sue Perkins and panellist Mel Giedroyc. “I never can pronounce that name,” says Sue in her introduction, and Mel hits back later, reminding Sue of her disastrous university dissertation on Arthur Miller, written four hours before she had to hand it in (first line: “Arthur Miller was a playwright”).

It’s one of several moments where the show takes off into teasing and ad libs from Stephen Mangan and Richard Osman. But there are juicy historical titbits, too, including the tale of what must be the worst wedding day of all time.

Summary

Actor Stephen Mangan, TV presenter Mel Giedroyc, comedian Nish Kumar and historian Suzannah Lipscomb join host Sue Perkins and captains Richard Osman and Josh Widdicombe on the comedy panel show. In this edition, the two sides answer questions about famous people past and present who share the name Mary, with the winners earning the right to pick the greatest bearer of the moniker - prompting comic banter, funny facts and unusual stats as the teams vie to outdo each other.
