When Phillip Met Prince Philip: 60 Years of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award

Catch Up

Last year Ant and Dec “hung out” with Prince Charles for a TV documentary. Now it’s the turn of Phillip Schofield to hobnob with royalty as he spends time with Prince Philip in order to explore the work of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award charity.

“I’m really impressed by what he does,” Phillip-the-younger said of the 95-year-old during an appearance on Loose Women. “He’s very spritely, sharp. But they warn you, ‘Don’t say that because you’ll make him cross’. So it’s a bit of a dance.” A bit of wing walking is also called for when the This Morning presenter accepts the charity’s Diamond Challenge.

Phillip Schofield learns about Prince Philip's youth programme over the course of a year marking its 60th anniversary, meeting the Duke at celebrity galas, special receptions and intimate events. The This Morning host talks to David Walliams, Judi Dench and Joanna Lumley to help understand the Duke and how he embodies the award, and also chats to Prince Edward and his wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex, who give a unique glimpse of life inside the royal family and the time and work the Duke still invests in the scheme he founded.
