This racy romantic thriller divides opinion: some think it’s implausible melodrama, others are seduced by its entwined narratives and exploration of adult relationships. The third series gets off to a promising start. Dominic West’s Noah, three years on, is a free man and has that fabulous pairing of fresh-out-of-prison beard and constipated gaze that tells you he’s Troubled. Which he is – at the end of the last series he pleaded guilty to killing a man.
There’s no sign of Alison (Ruth Wilson), but we know she’s raising her daughter in Montauk with her own ex, Cole. Which is presumably running smoothly without even the suggestion of disruption or emotional turmoil of any kind...
Three years after the trial, Noah is adapting to a new life, but someone appears to be watching him. Return of the drama, starring Dominic West.
