In Their Own Words

Jim Henson

Series 1 - Episode 3 Jim Henson

This look at Muppets creator Jim Henson is full of interesting titbits, like his invention of the so-called “Henson triangle” – the ratio of eyes to mouth that makes a puppet lifelike – and the fact that the first version of Kermit the Frog was made from his mother’s coat and some ping pong balls.

However, the programme suffers a little from an overpowering voiceover delivering exposition that would have been better left to Henson’s family and colleagues, who are on fine form telling tales of the man who longed for artistic success alongside his
more mainstream work.

A profile of Jim Henson's career from his first work with his Muppets in the early 1950s up to his sudden and shocking death in 1990.
