According to 20th-century sci-fi, by now we should have had teleportation, hover boards, and robot servants feeding us grapes like pampered Roman emperors.
But robots, as this programme shows, are still stumbling around like blind-drunk zombies who can't open a fridge door without collapsing in a heap. Yes, for the moment, artificial intelligences are better suited to, say, whipping us at chess than pouring us a cup of cocoa.
This is because translating binary code into physical actions takes a lot of processing. "Half a million lines of code just to put one foot in front of the other," apparently. Reminds you just how amazing our bodies are.
Documentary exploring advances in robotics and the role this new technology might play in everyday life, examining the social implications of a world filled with automatons.
