A young man’s body is pulled from a reservoir (actually the magnificent Kielder Water in Northumberland). As Det Chief Insp
Stanhope dons a life jacket to investigate the last case in the current series (we’ll miss her), she wonders if the victim died by accident, or was murdered
Of course he was murdered, there’s a great big wound on the back of his head and his clothes have been removed and very tidily left on the water’s edge. Odd for a boy whose bedroom is a tip.
The victim was a bit of a misfit who was bullied by local lads. As Vera (Brenda Blethyn) plods towards the truth she discovers interwoven webs of lies.
The dead body of a teenage boy is found in a reservoir near a remote rural timber community. Vera and her team investigate, and discover that the boy had already been missing for three days prior to his death. However, the case is complicated by an apparent conspiracy of silence, as many of the townsfolk refuse to cooperate with the police investigation. A complex web of relationships between the victim's friends and family slowly emerges, with many dark secrets that could have driven someone to kill. Last in the series.
