Ross Noble: Off Road

Ross Noble has been riding motorbikes for decades, but when it comes to the Six Days Trial, the comedian is a total novice. The competition is a test of physical and mental endurance: six days of 100-mile courses across tough Scottish terrain.

Noble is jovial company, but he’s not doing this for a lark: he’s built an assault course in his Kent back garden, and took his coach with him on his 150-date stand-up tour.

There are the inevitable Rocky-esque training clips as well as quieter moments that have a (probably deliberate) mockumentary feel, although the drama picks up when Noble sets off. His first test is a rock-filled stretch where spectators gather to watch the carnage unfold – and Noble is a star attraction.
