S2-E6 An Apricot

Montalbano’s transfer to Genoa is imminent. All he has left to do is pack a toothbrush. But the siren call of his beloved Sicily’s high murder rate proves irresistible when the body of a woman is found in a wrecked car. So he’ll stay, just a little while longer…

The victim was a model, and there’s a positive pheromone fountain when Salvo questions some of her glamorous, leggy colleagues; one in particular eyes the detective as if he’s a whole plate of cannoli. Understandable enough.

The woman died with an apricot stone lodged in her throat. But she was allergic to apricots. As Salvo closely examines her fruit consumption, we must sigh and wonder how he can ever leave Sicily and that lovely seaside flat.

All preparations for Salvo's move to Genoa have been made, but the inspector himself does not yet seem ready to leave his beloved Sicily. When a young woman is found dead at the bottom of a cliff, having apparently been involved in a tragic car accident, Montelbano is drawn into one last investigation. Augello, Salvo's eager replacement, is quick to accept an easy solution, but his boss remains convinced the inconsistencies need to be examined. Crime drama, starring Michele Riondino. In Italian. Last in the series.
