Review

This match-making series for people with disabilities has a growing track record. The last series saw the first wedding between people brought together by the show, plus another engagement. As television it runs the gamut from agonising (some of the dates take awkwardness to new levels, perhaps not helped by the circling camera crews) to uplifting.

The fifth series opens with the story of James, a bright student whose Asperger’s has cramped his dating style. “I do have problems knowing how to behave in and around girls,” he says. “I’m a bit quirky.” Meanwhile, 34-year-old Tammy has a facial disfigurement caused by septicaemia. Will date Gary be able to see past it?

Summary

The return of the documentary following people with disabilities as they search for romance. Student James has Asperger's and believes his problem is that he talks too much, but that doesn't stop him hoping his date with 24-year-old Chloe will lead to romance. Tammy was left facially disfigured after contracting meningococcal septicaemia 18 months ago and is determined to get on with life, but suffers nerves as she prepares for a date, while Tom has always tried to hide his Tourette's and Asperger's from the opposite sex. Will he dare reveal his conditions on a date with Megan?
