Mary Berry has some help in the kitchen as her charming grandchildren have a go at making several of her family’s best-loved dishes. The boys are quite serious as they get stuck into chicken pasta bake while the girls giggle their way through the biscuit baking. Husband Paul gets a look in too, although only to taste his fave – chicken malay rice, a throwback to the time he spent in Malaysia.
However, it’s slightly worrying that as the entire family are wolfing down her remarkably easy-to-make lemon meringue pie, the youngest grandchild announces it tastes like strawberries.
The veteran cook makes dishes inspired by her home and family, including husband Paul's favourite Malay fried rice and the grandchildren's choice - chicken pasta bake. Three generations of the clan then come together at Mary's house to enjoy a harissa spiced lamb casserole as a North African-inspired alternative to a traditional Sunday roast, before her granddaughters help her make biscuits of various flavours all from the same dough, along with her popular dessert easy-to-make lemon meringue pie. Last in the series.
