Status Quo: Live and Acoustic

Status Quo: Live and Acoustic

Who hasn’t listened to a Status Quo record and thought, what this needs is a folky, unplugged treatment? Your wish is granted via this concert recorded for Radio 2 at the Roundhouse, London. Francis Rossi, Rick Parfitt and bandmates perch in a line on stools, forming a wall of four “aquostic” guitars hammering out those two-and-a-half chords and covering up most of the vocal bum notes. An accordion and string section complete the hoedown vibe on hits like Caroline and Down Down. Close your eyes and it could be Mumford & Sons.

A compilation of footage from Status Quo's 2014 live appearance at London's Roundhouse, where they performed acoustic versions of their best-known hits, including Pictures of Matchstick Men, Rockin' All Over the World, Whatever You Want, What You're Proposing, Down Down, and Marguerita Time. Playing alongside a string section, Francis and Rick reminisce about their career and recall some of the stories behind their classic songs.
