Review

This is the bounciest, boysiest food show on TV, a sort of playground for Jamie Oliver and Jimmy Doherty to have fun, cook up a storm, invite their celebrity mates over and enthuse like crazy from their funky-looking café on Southend pier.

Their guest is rapper Tinie Tempah, whose mother has shared with Jamie the secrets of the Nigerian suya kebab. This beefy street food staple requires a special pepper called uda that looks like the legs of a giant spider – the stuff of Tinie’s childhood nightmares.

But the show has a campaigning spirit, too, and our boys head off
in their vintage Capri to sample pullet eggs – young hens’ small but perfectly formed mini-eggs, of which a million are thrown away daily because they’re too small for supermarkets. The boys have other ideas...
