Episode 1: Pilot

Summary

Private pathologist Dr Beaumont Rosewood's mother asks him to look into the death of one of her students when the police can find no evidence of foul play. Pilot episode of the crime drama, starring Morris Chestnut and Jaina Lee Ortiz

Review

New crime dramas rise or fall on the likeability of their leads – and luckily for this US import, private pathologist Dr Beaumont Rosewood is just the right side of irritating. True, his constant hustling for work (he’s private, so he has to negotiate for work with the Miami police) and self-aggrandising swagger is a little wearing, but once we learn about the guy’s hidden pain, then you do kind of forgive him. Kind of. To say anything more about Rosewood’s back story would ruin this pilot. What I can say is that if you like your detective shows in the mould of Hawaii Five-O or NCIS: LA, then this provides the same mix of slick action and sunny location work.
