Review

Criminal barrister Robert Rinder moves out of the small claims setting which has made his daytime TV name to present some real-life crime cases and offer his own conclusions. Witnesses, the victims’ families and investigating police give their take on events, which are also reconstructed dramatically.

These are serious crimes (murder, rape, an acid attack) so appropriately he’s considerably less flamboyant than he is when castigating the daft litigants that come before him. However, while some viewers may miss his bons mots, these horrendous stories do hold a morbid fascination.

Summary

New series. Barrister Robert Rinder examines real-life cases, looking at the events leading up to crimes, going through the police investigations and summing up the trials. In the first edition, he focuses on the murder of 21-year-old horse sanctuary worker Laura Davies, and an acid attack on businessman Andreas Christopheros.
