If you’ve got £20 million to spare, why not indulge yourself in a top-of-the-range, hand-built, bespoke yacht that will be the envy of your multimillionaire neighbours who are also cruising the Cote d’Azur?
Alternatively, if your bank balance is dinghy-sized, this documentary means you can vicariously enjoy the luxury of these floating palaces that are built by English company Sunseeker. As we follow the staff fitting and selling these superyachts, you can’t help but be staggered by the phenomenal attention to detail as well as the sums of money the exacting customers spend.
“We’re selling dreams,” says founder Robert Braithwaite. Most of us can only dream.
Dorset-based Sunseeker has been hand-building customised boats for the world's super rich for the past 50 years. For the first time, bosses have allowed cameras to delve behind the scenes of their production line in Poole, and into the rarefied world of the multi-millionaire's favourite plaything. The film follows the build of their first £20million, 40-metre vessel, which has been ordered by an exacting customer who's taken advantage of the firm's `made-to-measure' service. Meanwhile, the London-based sales team works to fill orders during the all-important boat show season.
