Review

If a week in a tent is your idea of hell, Julia Davis’s new comedy will confirm your worst fears and then some. It boasts a great cast including Steve Pemberton as a chipper chap who’s invited a group of couples on a camping trip in Dorset to celebrate a landmark birthday. Unfortunately, his controlling, neurotic, homophobic wife – a brilliantly vile Vicki Pepperdine – is running the show. As well as writing and directing, Davis plays the sex-mad girlfriend of a recently separated friend (Rufus Jones) who pitches up unannounced. This opening double bill is deliciously excruciating, with plenty of Davis’s trademark filthy jokes.

Summary

Fiona decides to celebrate her husband's 50th birthday by organising a camping weekend with friends Kerry and Adam. However, her perfectly organised trip is thrown drastically off course by the arrival of the recently separated Tom and his uninhibited new partner Fay. Comedy, written by and starring Julia Davis.
