The three explorers, Ellie Harrison, Chris Hollins and Denise Lewis, are in Kent, which is described inevitably as “the garden of England” and “the gateway to Europe”.

Lewis joins a ‘professional forager’ looking for rock samphire on the white cliffs of Dover, Harrison scales a turbine in the Thanet off-shore wind farm, and Hollins visits what used to be a hop farm to hear of the influx of thousands of hop-picking East End families every summer. Nothing very secret there.

But you might feel for the bus driver who loves quiet woodland near Dover. Sometimes, he says, he “doesn’t see a single soul”. Though presumably not for long now his rural hideaway is on the telly.

The presenters explore Kent, with Denise Lewis abseiling off the White Cliffs of Dover in search of a rare plant, Ellie Harrison heading to Kent's furthest outpost, and Chris Hollins discovering the secrets of the North Kent marshes.
