Review

The night before Scottish runner Lynsey Sharp won silver in the Commonwealth Games 800m, she was on a drip fighting sickness in the athletes’ village clinic. The fact that she still managed to race to a podium finish turned bad luck into one of the feel-good stories of Glasgow. She’s due to race again here in the European Championships, hopefully off the back of a decent night’s sleep.

As well as the women’s 800m final, the penultimate day’s action includes the men’s and women’s 100m and 400m relay heats, and concludes with the women’s 5,000m.
