The night before Scottish runner Lynsey Sharp won silver in the Commonwealth Games 800m, she was on a drip fighting sickness in the athletes’ village clinic. The fact that she still managed to race to a podium finish turned bad luck into one of the feel-good stories of Glasgow. She’s due to race again here in the European Championships, hopefully off the back of a decent night’s sleep.
As well as the women’s 800m final, the penultimate day’s action includes the men’s and women’s 100m and 400m relay heats, and concludes with the women’s 5,000m.
Gabby Logan presents coverage of the fifth and penultimate day's track and field events at the Letzigrund in Zurich, Switzerland. Great Britain's Lynsey Sharp will hope to be in contention to defend her women's 800m title at 3.05. Plus, the finals of the men's hammer from 2.00 and pole vault from 2.03, and women's triple jump from 3.40, discus from 3.45 and 400m hurdles at 4.15. Commentary by Steve Cram, Andrew Cotter, Brendan Foster and Jonathan Edwards, and analysis from Colin Jackson, Denise Lewis and Paula Radcliffe, with reports by Phil Jones.
