Review

The usual theory of property programmes is that they offer inspiration. Even if most of us can’t pull off a grand design of our own, we can daydream idly while we watch, and we can tut from our sofas if we don’t approve of a colour scheme or a tap.

But the plans in George Clarke’s series are so oddball, the rooms and vehicles involved so tiny that they stop being inspiration and become pure eye candy: what will his ambitious eccentrics think of next? The dreamers here include a pair of brothers in their 20s, who plan to transform a fire-damaged narrowboat into a luxury bachelor pad.

Summary

The architect meets two brothers in their twenties who can't afford to get onto the property ladder and plan to transform a fire-damaged narrowboat into a luxury bachelor pad. He also visits a police officer from Somerset who wants to convert an old campervan and caravan into a mobile cream-tea business, and in Texas, he and Will discover an extraordinary 1950s trailer on the edge of the desert.
