Review

The suave Fernando Peire has run several of London’s best restaurants so is well placed to turn around the fortunes of some of the country’s not-so-good eating establishments. His target here is a roadside restaurant in Bridgwater, Somerset, that specialises in Greek cuisine. The Olive Mill is losing about £2,000 a week and its headstrong Cypriot owners, Mark and Christina, can’t see that the Mediterranean specialities they’re serving don’t work for their clientele, nor can they spot that the décor of their restaurant is soulless – or, as Peire says, “Crossroads Motel 1975”. The scene is set for a Greek tragedy.

Summary

Fernando Peire, director of London's the Ivy, goes undercover at a roadside restaurant in Somerset that specialises in Greek cuisine - but has trouble finding it because of poor road signs. Six months after a change of ownership, the eatery is suffering from a lack of customers and losing about £2,000 a week. But in spite of this, the new boss is reluctant to make changes, so it is left to Fernando to overhaul the menu and change the decor.
