Review

A good few years back, Richard Madeley fronted a series about wild weather and natural disasters called Eye of the Storm, using home video footage gathered from round the world. Nowadays things have moved on, and in this new show, Ben Fogle gets down and dirty to really feel the effects of bad weather. The series is also being shown on Sky 3D, to unsettle audiences even further.

In this first episode, he’s exploring the immense power of snow and ice, with the help of personal testimonies from survivors of ice storms, and subjects a “test house” to the full force of an avalanche. Let’s hope he’s wrapped up warmly…

Summary

Documentary in which Ben Fogle explores the devastating impact of extreme weather, finding out what happens when man is pitted against the power of Mother Nature. He begins with the chaos caused by snow and ice, using real-life studies - such as Montreal being shut down by a fierce ice storm in 1998 - and sharing incredible stories of survival. He then subjects a specially built test house to an avalanche, one of the world's deadliest natural forces.
