The repair ship CS Mackay-Bennett was launched in 1884 and helped keep information flowing along a network of underwater cables that connected Britain with its Empire and the world, but was also used to recover bodies of those who died when the Titanic sank. David Hayman travels to Halifax, Nova Scotia, to investigate the story of the vessel and learns of a DNA mystery that has taken more than a century to solve.
