Review

In the opening scenes of Anthony Horowitz’s blockbuster drama we see suave, assured defence barrister William Travers running rings around stumbling, borderline-corrupt police officers. Although Travers (James Purefoy) looks like a man in complete command of both his professional and personal lives, as the story unfolds we learn that Something Bad once happened to Travers, poisoning his comfortable world and driving him from a successful London practice to start a new life in Suffolk.

Purefoy is necessarily impassive as Travers, a successful man with a dreadful secret, a man who seems preternaturally clever at keeping his emotions tamped down. Yet Travers is unmistakably rattled when he spots a familiar face on a railway platform.
Despite a leisurely start, Injustice slowly shimmers into life, throwing out clues and sub-plots and gradually weaving a spell. Which is lucky, as ITV1 has scheduled all five episodes nightly until Friday. But we are in good hands; Horowitz knows how to tell a story, and you could just be hooked enough to revise any plans you might have for a
social life this week.

Summary

Celebrated London barrister William Travers moves his family and practice to Suffolk after suffering a nervous breakdown, and his life is thrown off balance a second time when he sees a familiar shabby figure at a train station. Meanwhile, Ipswich detective Mark Wenborn is assigned to investigate a murder at a deserted farm and his inquiries lead him into a game of cat-and-mouse with Travers. Thriller, written by Anthony Horowitz (Foyle's War), starring James Purefoy, Charlie Creed-Miles and Dervla Kirwan.
