Romance is the comically propitious theme this week and – not for the first time – Big Bang turns into the Simon Helberg Show. The plot enables us to see how the three couples keep things exciting. Howard (Helberg) writes a song for the anniversary of his first date with “Betty Boo” Bernadette; “Been-round-the-block” Penny attempts to do something meaningful for Leonard; and Amy wants to make her mark on that walking singularity, Sheldon.

First however, Sheldon is mortified when what he thought was his huge scientific breakthrough is as a result of a basic error in calculation. Rejecting the applause of his Caltech colleagues, he insists, “Stop celebrating me!”

But back to that song, If I Didn’t Have You, performed by the multi-talented Helberg – it’s an absolute showstopper, and has become an iTunes hit in the US.

All this plus the prospect of Professor Proton’s return next week. Life is sweet.

Summary

Sheldon stumbles upon a major scientific breakthrough, causing him to feel like a fraud, while Penny steps up her game with Leonard after seeing Howard make a romantic gesture to Bernadette. Comedy, starring Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco.
