Funny or Die Presents

Series 1-Episode 1

Series 1-Episode 1

The internet has given us many things, some good, some bad. Falling slap bang in the middle is funnyordie.com, a comedy sketch website peopled by TV and film stars (notably Will Ferrell) and frankly, some astoundingly unfunny wannabes. But it proved a success, so it wasn’t surprising that the concept came to TV, with pretty much the same result. This is humour aimed squarely at stoner students; as “host” Ed Haligan states from the off, “HBO has graciously given us a home, which means that from time to time you may hear the word f*** – I don’t know why.”

But if you can get past the adolescent sketch featuring a date-rape T-shirt, there are a couple of lesser gems: the sweet adventures of the mini superheroine Space Baby, plus Drunk History, in which Ferrell and Don Cheadle re-create Abraham Lincoln’s relationship with abolitionist Frederick Douglass, told via the bottom of two bottles of wine.

TV spin-off based on sketches uploaded to Funny or Die, a comedy website co-founded by Anchorman star Will Ferrell. A woman drunkenly tries to recall Abraham Lincoln's relationship with anti-slavery campaigner Frederick Douglass, children test-drive a new range of racing toys, and a baby sets off on an intergalactic mission. Featuring Don Cheadle, Zooey Deschanel, Busy Philipps, Fred Willard, Rob Riggle, Paul Scheer, Steve Little and Jen Kirkman.
