Jamie Oliver reckons if there’s one time of year we should all treat ourselves it’s at Christmas. However, some may baulk at spending three hours cooking their spice-rubbed goose and almost as long preparing the accompanying gravy – even though the end result does look amazing.

Of course, you can just pick elements from his Christmas menu: his roast potatoes are definite winners and if you’ve ever wondered what people do with an Italian panettone once they’ve admired the gorgeous packaging, a sumptuous chocolate-studded bread and butter pud is the answer.

There are also tips for using leftovers (a fragrant Thai curry), avoiding a soggy bottom on your beef wellington and making dynamite cocktails. 

Failing that, you can just gaze in wonder at his Christmas jumpers.
