This show always delivers a lot of bang for your buck. OK, so the dialogue sounds like it’s written in bullet points rather than sentences and there can’t be a car on the island that Danno hasn’t bonnet-rolled at some point. But Hawaii Five-O is damn fine entertainment.
This season-five opener begins with the chilling sight of a holidaying couple gunned down by a weaponised drone – but who is controlling the killing machine? The case takes many twists and turns (including a very effective sequence in which Honolulu is evacuated), and even though the whole thing descends into the usual running-around-with-big-guns finale, there’s a lot of fun to be had along the way.
Return of the police drama. A terrorist using weaponised drones targets the island of O'ahu, so the team must mobilise to prevent the imminent attack. McGarrett and Danno open up about their friendship during a session with a psychologist, while the arrival of Max's new trainee Mindy causes a stir. Alex O'Loughlin, Scott Caan and Masi Oka star, with Jorge Garcia (Lost) joining the cast having made guest appearances in season 4.
