Review

Although 21-year-old Travis maintains he can’t cook anything bar a pan of plain spaghetti, he’s streets ahead of the other novices in this series. He even knows to roll a lime on the kitchen top to release the juices, for goodness’ sake. Lorraine Pascale is impressed, so although the starter she devises for him is another of her no-cook chop-and-mix-together dishes, she then gets him making his own flatbread with a Caribbean prawn curry.

It’s easy to scoff at the simplicity of the dishes in this series, but there’s always at least one recipe in each show that inspires you to think, “Mmm, I might try that.”

Summary

Student Travis Francis admits his mum makes all his meals, but now he wants to cook for her. Lorraine creates a menu inspired by his family's Caribbean roots, including a prawn, sweet potato and mango curry and tempting chocolate and rum truffles. She also demonstrates a quick way to make bread.
