Series 1 - Episode 1

There's no shortage of actors playing aloof, super-intelligent Brits on US TV – Jonny Lee Miller in Elementary, Tom Mison in Sleepy Hollow. Now there's another one. In Forever, Ioan Gruffudd plays Dr Henry Morgan, a medical examiner in New York, who has a secret. He's immortal, and has been for some 200 years. And he's not happy about it, trying to solve the mystery of his "curse" and finally get some peace.

Henry gets caught up in a fatal subway train crash, and the investigation brings him to the attention of an attractive FBI agent. But someone else knows his secret, too.

Forever's surprisingly light on its feet. The script is intelligent, if surprisingly blithe about death, Gruffudd's Henry is a charmer, there's wonderful, warm support from Judd Hirsch, and it all just flies by. Thumbs up all round.
