Well, it was only a matter of time before Paul O’Grady was so affected by a Battersea resident that he was tempted to take them home. Pepi is a 12-year-old shih tzu who’s confused, depressed and withdrawn because his owner died recently. He is partly blind and deaf and has heart problems, which is why Paul starts muttering that they’d make a good pair.
You can see why this show is so popular – Paul sees the best in every dog he meets, whether it’s Coco and Camellia, the bichon frise siblings with an ear-splitting yap, or Dougal the poodle who, frankly, stinks.
The comedian meets a noisy pair of bichon frises that have damaged each other's hearing with their constant barking, and assists dog groomer Catherine as she gives a poodle a much-needed trim. Head vet Shaun examines an elderly, distressed shih tzu whose owner has recently died, and concerns soon grow for the animal's health.
