Review

While many of the dogs at Battersea are perfectly healthy and merely in need of a loving home, a few need medical attention. So in this edition Paul meets the animals that are under doctor’s orders.

The first patients he sees are Lola the bulldog, who needs an eye operation, and Dolly, a shih-tzu who’s not very steady on her legs. He then travels to the charity’s Windsor site to see a very distressing case: an extremely neglected young lurcher who's been re-named Soldier for his fighting spirit. “My loathing for someone who can do this… I can’t tell you how I feel,” says Paul furiously.

Summary

The comedian meets a bulldog with cherry eye, as she undergoes an operation to correct the problem, and helps a shih-tzu strengthen her wobbly back legs with plenty of walks and physiotherapy. He then travels to Old Windsor, where staff are treating an extremely neglected lurcher suffering from the highly infectious skin condition sarcoptic mange, which means it must be kept in quarantine.
