Review

In 2011, the American songstress was hailed Person of the Year and a fundraising gala concert was given in her honour by MusiCares (a foundation that helps musicians in time of need). For the most part, Barbra sits in the audience applauding and beaming while others croon from her back catalogue.

Tony Bennett sings Chaplin’s Smile, a pinched-looking Barry Manilow is in fine voice for Midnight and British star Leona Lewis gives a heartfelt rendition of Somewhere. There’s also a peculiar trio from Jeff Beck, LeAnn Rimes and Bebe Winans. But the showstopper is La Streisand herself, who knocks spots off all before her with an exquisite interpretation of The Windmills of Your Mind.

Summary

A star-studded concert from 2011 featuring Tony Bennett, Stevie Wonder and Barry Manilow, who perform hits from the veteran singer and actress's back catalogue including Smile and People, plus Memory from Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical Cats. There are also performances by Glee's Lea Michele, Leona Lewis, Faith Hill, Jeff Beck, BB King, LeAnn Rimes, Diana Krall, Seal, Herbie Hancock and Nikki Yanofsky, before Streisand takes to the stage for The Windmills of Your Mind.
