Mary-Louise played abused wife Ruth Jamison alongside Mary Stuart Masterson's Idgie, in 1991 film Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café. Despite the subject matter, which also included racial inequality, the tale of 1920s Alabama was essentially a feel-good movie.
